Ann
Tran first started this company in Vietnam in 1989
with an intention to find her lost sons. After the
fall of Saigon families were separated on different
continents and so the story of Ann's Tourist begins.
Ann remained in Vietnam separated from her 2 sons
on April 18, 1975 and was never to see her sons again
for another 16 years.
In 1989 with the new government's "Open Door
Policy" which allowed privatization Ann had came
up with an idea to open up a travel agency in hopes
of getting help from American travelers to find her
sons.
|
At every
opportunity she got, she would hand out pictures and letters
of her sons in the hopes that an American traveler could
help find her sons.
The
day came in November of 1991, when at 4 am in the morning
Tony her eldest son received a phone call and the person
on the other line said, " This is your mother speaking".
This was the first time in 16 years after their separation
had they spoken to each other.
It
had happened that an American traveler had returned from
Vietnam and opened the phone book one-day and found her
son's name. Both sons have graduated with business and
economic majors from the U.S and now working as a team
with mom.
Ann's
Tourist was opened with the idea of warm caring service
and blossomed with the help of its customers who "passed
the word". Having offices throughout Vietnam
and able to provide all travel related services in Vietnam,
Cambodia and Laos you are sure to have a memorable vacation
in southeast Asia. When you come to Ann's Tourist
expect warm friendly advice from Ann, Tony, Tim or their
friendly staff. Think of Ann's Tourist as your home away
from home.
They
have been on CBS Sunday Morning (a popular U.S television
show) and also on the Washington Post on 30 April 1995.
Articles that have been written about them are purely
voluntary in popular guidebooks like Lonely Planet, Trade
& Travel Publication, Rough Guide, Frommers', Insight
and Fodor's to name just few.
We
look forward to meeting all of you. We know you
will experience the warm hospitality of our people and
beautiful landscape of our home, VIETNAM.
